Bridge Pedal 2014

After last year's Bridge Pedal we decided to make it a yearly tradition.  For anyone who is not familiar with it, Bridge Pedal is an event hosted by Providence each year in Portland, and it has to be one of the coolest rides of the year.  For 19 years Providence has been doing this, and each year 10 bridges are closed or at least partially closed for bike traffic.  This year there were 18,000 riders.  It was awesome, and the weather was gorgeous.

Ride highlight: The kids actually enjoyed it this year.  Last year was hard for them because of the timing and logistics, but this time was a lot of fun for them.  Next year we may have to switch to the Kids Pedal so Desmond can ride on his own!

Here are a few photo highlights.

Next year should be really cool because Portland's newest bridge, Tilikum Crossing, will open for the first public crossing during Bridge Pedal!  Tilikum Crossing is the first multi-modal bridge in the U.S. to carry light rail and streetcar trains, buses, bikes and pedestrians, but no private automobiles.

In 2015 we'd like to get some people to ride with us as a team, which makes registration a little cheaper.  If you're at all interested in riding with us, send me an email or comment here, and I'll put a reminder to myself to check with you next summer.
